LAS VEGAS– As part of its bimonthly exhibition series, Nevada Humanities presents Hearts4Vegas Touring Exhibition at the Nevada Humanities Program Gallery in Las Vegas. The Hearts4Vegas exhibition was conceived from a desire to share with the greater Las Vegas community the notes, condolences, and well wishes sent to Las Vegas City Hall from around the world following the October 1, 2017, mass shooting. By traveling throughout the greater Las Vegas area to community centers, arts centers, and cultural hubs, the exhibit will share the outpouring of love directed to Las Vegas from around the world with as many people as possible while the community heals from the tragic events of October 1.
The exhibition is on tour throughout the city of Las Vegas from December 2017 through August 2019, visiting cultural arts centers and community centers in all six wards. Hearts4Vegas will be at the Nevada Humanities Program Gallery fromAugust 2 through October 5, 2018, situating the exhibition close to the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden during theOctober 1 anniversary of the shooting.
“This exhibition illuminates the hearts and souls of people from around the world and right here in our neighborhoods, bringing us closer together at a time when community matters most.” said Christina Barr, Nevada Humanities Executive Director.
Among the many messages from the “Send Us Your Hearts” campaign, the exhibition includes a painting on loan by artist Manuel Batista, message boards from Albuquerque, New Mexico, donated artwork by “Gracie’s House,” and a city of Las Vegas, commissioned public art piece by featured collage artist JK Russ.
