HomeAid Southern Nevada is letting the dogs out on Downtown Summerlin® with Las Vegas’ very own Barkitecture event, a designer doghouse contest that combines two universal favorites – pooches and fundraising – for a good cause. All proceeds from the event go to the local HomeAid chapter to build new lives for people experiencing homelessness in Southern Nevada.

Eleven builders from the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association have been working in secret over the last month to design one-of-a-kind doghouses to display at select sites throughout Downtown Summerlin. The custom doghouses, constructed by some of the most creative minds in Las Vegas, will be auctioned off to support HomeAid. Potential buyers and their furry friends can bid on the doghouses online while they are on display March 20 through May 20. The builders, who all donated their services, will be awarded prizes by special judges in select categories.

The doghouses will be unveiled during the Barkitecture Opening Ceremony event. Participants and members of the media are invited to attend on March 20, with remarks starting at 10:30 a.m. in the Downtown Summerlin dining arroyo. The event is pet-friendly. Event organizers, HomeAid’s Executive Director Nat Hodgson, builders, and judges will be available for interviews.

Bids can be placed online by visiting www.homeaidsn.org starting March 20. Follow Bariktecture updates on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #BarkitectureLV.
