U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen visited with the Walker Basin Conservancy to learn more about successful conservation activities and how they benefit the local community and ensure long-term sustainability within the Walker Basin.

Rosen has submitted several requests to Senate appropriators supporting conservation efforts in the Tahoe region, including for forest management and fire risk reduction, invasive species management, and storm water and total watershed restoration.

Rosen was an original co-sponsor of the bipartisan Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan Authorization Act, which directs the Secretary of the Interior to execute and carry out a drought contingency plan to avoid catastrophic water supply shortages in the western United States. This bill passed the Senate, and it’s identical House companion bill passed both chambers and was signed into law earlier this year Senator Rosen is also a cosponsor of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Permanent Funding Act, which would permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).
