Sisters and Lincoln County High School graduates Erin (FitzSimons) Krug and Mary (FitzSimons) Kerner were honored in May by the U.S. Small Business.

Mary Kerner, class of ’93, and Erin Krug, class of ’99, are the daughters of Patrick and Millie FitzSimons. The sisters were honored in May for their efforts to improve their companies and the surrounding communities.

On May 3, in Las Vegas, the U.S. Small Business Administration recognized Mary, the CEO for the Rural Nevada Development Corporation, with the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award for rural Nevada. This award is given to an individual who best demonstrates a pattern of entrepreneurial activities in support of small businesses statewide.

Mary has been with the RNDC for 16 years. She was a previous SBA Award recipient in 2009, for the Financial Services Champion of the Year, and was also honored as one of the top 10 lenders in the nation.

On May 30, in Reno, Northern Nevada Business Weekly named Erin Krug as one of the Top-20 Most Powerful Women in recognition of her leadership and community impact. NNBW also published a management article written by Krug in their new magazine, Sierra Nevada Powerful Woman.

Erin leads the Global Process Management team for Microsoft Business Operations and has served in different leadership capacities since 2011. Most recently, she helped develop a digital transformation strategy regarding licensing deal management to globally streamline engagement across sales, finance, and operations. Erin is involved with developing our youth through Junior Achievement, DigiGirlz, and high school outreach programs.
