The bombshell book that ex-FBI Chief James Comey is promoting in a series of TV interviews has turned out to be quite a dud. Some of the riveting revelations that Comey promised turn out to be the size of Trump’s hands, the length of his tie and the color of his skin. One of Washington DC’s favorite terms is “Nothing Burger” and it seems most appropriate in the case of Comey’s book.
In most of his television appearances, Comey has portrayed himself as a moral paragon. He has even gone so far as to label Trump as a “Mob Boss”. For his part, Trump has responded by calling Comey “a leaker and a liar”. Another statement that Comey likes to use is that Trump is “not adhering to our values”. Of course, Comey never defines what the values happen to be. In this respect, Comey is parroting a phrase that most liberals use. Maybe someday someone on the left will be kind enough to publish a list of these values.
As far as Trump’s assertions re Comey are concerned, the word leaker is easy to confirm as Comey did leak a classified memo to a friend with instructions to give it to the press. As far as liar is concerned, we will have to wait until Trump offers proof.
The most impressive new that out last week, was that a number of lawmakers had forwarded a request for a criminal investigation to AG Sessions. The list of persons on that request included Comey, Hillary Clinton and a number of FBI persons. It seems there was a cabal against Trump that included DOJ, FBI, State Department and quite possibly President Obama himself.
As for Hillary Clinton, in the latest poll her favorability number has dropped below that of Trump’s. Republicans in general are salivating over Clinton’s comments as they see them as one of the reasons that the congressional preference in the upcoming mid-term elections has dropped from 12 to 4 points in favor of the Democrats.
An old warhorse surfaced last week when Madeleine Albright appeared on TV to promote her new book. This is the same former Secretary of State under Bill Clinton who supposedly settled the threat of North Korean nuclear missiles with Kim Jong Un’s father Kim Jong Il. This caused President Clinton to exalt and claim this is a great day for America as North Korea will never have weapons. It is unclear how much American money was paid to the elder Kim for this earth shaking democratic triumph.
The fact that President Trump by his strong rhetoric has brought the younger Kim to the bargaining table has gotten mixed reviews particularly from the left. At first the mainstream media, roundly criticized Trump for calling Kim “Little Rocket Man” and then berated Trump for his bellicose threat of military action against NoKo. The fact that Trump by increasing sanctions against NoKo has achieved a breakthrough is of little matter to the Liberals for they fear that Trump is too undisciplined to be effective. To them no matter what Trump does, such as his recent missile strike against Syria, it is up to pundits on the left to question his fitness to be commander-in-chief.
One of the more entertaining Trump critics is actor Robert De Niro who portrayed Robert Mueller on Saturday Night Live looked more like Mueller than Alec Baldwin looks like Trump on his SNL appearances. De Niro would not say whether he would make any future appearances in the Mueller role. He (De Niro) has often said that he would like to punch Trump in the face. Maybe this will be as close as he gets. He will probably have to stand in line behind ex-VP Joe Biden who has said he would like to take Trump up behind the gym and whip him.
With the current US economy rolling along it would seem that most Americans would not return to eight years of economic doldrums that existed in the Obama Administration. It looks like the projected “blue wave” may turn out to be a blue ripple come November.

As projected, the current NBA playoffs have become a strictly physical affair with the silent referees permitting all sorts of mayhem on the court. As bad as they were during the regular season, they have gotten even worse. The overly physical play has resulted in three teams losing their star performers: Curry of Golden State, Irving of the Celtics and Leonard of the Spurs. Sooner or later, the NBA commissioner has to author a book entitled, “Rules for Referees”.
