LAS VEGAS — Adam Laxalt, U.S. Navy veteran and Republican candidate for Nevada Governor, has received the endorsement of the Nevada Veterans Association, Laxalt’s campaign announced today.

“I am truly honored and grateful to have the endorsement of the Nevada Veterans Association,” Laxalt said. “As a veteran myself, I understand how crucial it is that those who have served our country receive the support they have earned and so richly deserve. The Nevada Veterans Association is doing outstanding work in service of our veterans, and I’m extremely proud to have their support.”
Standing with Nevada’s veterans has been a central part of Laxalt’s campaign platform. In January he announced a major initiative designed to make Nevada the most veteran-empowering state in the nation. The initiative calls for combatting the crisis of veteran suicide, improving veterans’ access to services and information, and opening doors to more career opportunities for veterans. Also in January, Laxalt announced the formation of Veterans for Laxalt, a coalition of veterans supporting him in his campaign.
“Our men and women in the armed services put their lives at risk every day to defend our freedoms. We must stand with them and their families while they are abroad and when they return home,” Laxalt said. “Tremendous work has been done on behalf of Nevada’s service members, veterans and their families in recent years. I look forward to building on that success.”
The Nevada Veterans Association is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to be the political voice for Nevada’s veterans and their families.
Laxalt was sworn into office on January 5, 2015, making him Nevada’s 33rd Attorney General. A father, husband, and fourth-generation native Nevadan, Laxalt is also a former Navy Lieutenant who served as a Judge Advocate General and volunteered to serve in a combat zone in Iraq, where he and his unit helped with the detention and prosecution of thousands of war criminals and terrorists. As Attorney General, Laxalt has taken a bold, results-driven approach to serving the people of Nevada, pursuing justice for victims, protecting the state’s most vulnerable citizens, and increasing services for members of the military community.
