As the State of Nevada VFW District 2 and the James Jewel Post 3547 winner of the Voice of Democracy Essay Competition, Catherine Odgers has the opportunity again to represent the State of Nevada and White Pine County at the Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program on June 11-14 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
The Spirit of America Youth Leadership program is a four-day residential program for high school students and provides the opportunity to interact with experts on citizenship; democracy; the free enterprise system; the judicial system and the American political process.
The program includes thought provoking lectures, historical tours and experiential workshops, all designed to develop leadership skills and deepen an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of engaged citizenship.
This program is hosted by Freedoms Foundations, a non-profit organization, founded in 1949 with the conviction that continued success of our republic is dependent on all Americans embracing their civic responsibilities while becoming active, engaged citizens who are inspired by the enduring relevance of the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Freedoms Foundation mission is to educate the youth of today, who will become the leaders of tomorrow, on the rights and responsibilities of Americans, to honor acts of civic virtue and to challenge all to reject apathy and to get involved.
