Reno – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) attended the 31st Annual James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony.

The ceremony is held to honor Nevada law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and survivors who were involved in violent incidents.

“It was an honor to work closely alongside our local heroes as a member of law enforcement when I served as Nevada’s attorney general,” said Cortez Masto. “That experience allowed me to see firsthand the challenges and dangers they face in the line of duty. Our heroes in law enforcement do not shoulder the weight of service alone – they are shared by their loved ones and our community.

“The 1October shooting last year reminded us of our heroes’ dedication, bravery, and commitment. Those brave men and women ran toward the bullets during the worst mass shooting in modern American history, saving countless lives. The dedication law enforcement officers from across the state honored today is unmatched and today’s ceremony is a reminder of their courage and sacrifice. I am committed to making sure they get the support and resources they need.”
