A ribbon cutting ceremony for the bridge over the Meadow Valley Wash leading to the Caliente Youth Center was held Nov. 17 at 11:45 a.m.
Many city officials, city workers, Caliente Youth Center employees, residents and representatives from different organizations involved in the project attended the ceremony and a luncheon afterwards.
The new bridge has been in the works since a 2005 flood. It took years of persistent efforts to fund and complete the project. More than a decade of hard work from everyone involved was mentioned in Mayor Stana Hurlburt’s speech, as she thanked everyone who participated in the success of the new bridge. “We have worked for years to get this bridge put in,” Hurlburt said. “It will be a huge benefit to everybody.”
Brian Wacker was the State Public Works project manager. The contractor was Meadow Valley Contracting, with Desiree Howard project manager and Harold Hoover and Jeff Benson Superintendents.
Mike Taylor of Dante’s Devine Catering put on the luncheon.
